Combined detachment calls fell by 101, or 1.5%. Mental Health Act files are included within the totals.
My takeI want to know what is driving the calls, then get the right people working together on it.
The full detachment recorded 6,331 calls in calendar 2025: 4,955 in the City and 1,376 outside it. That was below 2024’s 6,700 calls, but still 10.1% above 2018. On the clean fiscal-year comparison, City calls rose from 5,064 to 5,118 while outside-City calls fell from 1,512 to 1,357. Combined workload fell 1.5%. Within the City total, Mental Health Act files rose from 117 to 155. Calls for service include criminal reports, well-being checks and other non-criminal files, so this measures police workload, not crime alone.
- Annual trend
- Calendar years 2018 to 2023 use annual detachment totals and annual outside-City counts. The 2024 outside-City value is the sum of four published quarters; the City value is the remainder of the signed year-end total. The original outside-City Q2 2024 report repeats Q1’s 256 calls and reports 512 year to date. The following year’s official comparator reports 373 for April to June 2024, which reconciles to the published City and full-detachment quarter, so 373 is used. The 2025 point sums four City and outside-City quarterly reports. Blue is included within each total, not added to it. The reports use “Mental Health” through 2023 and “Mental Health Act” from 2024.
- Adversarial checks
- Final annual figures govern the fiscal comparison. The four 2025/26 City quarter reports sum to 5,122 calls and 156 Mental Health Act files, but the signed year-end report revises those figures to 5,118 and 155. The 2021 annual slide prints 5,188 municipal calls, which cannot reconcile to its 6,716 total and 1,598 outside-City count; the reconciled value is 5,118. For 2018, five consecutive reports show 5,750 total calls, while one later retrospective chart shows 5,752, so the repeated 5,750 figure is used. The 2023 mental-health count was revised from 295 to 294 in the following year’s report.
